My stay at The Grand Hotel in Taipei was a blend of grandeur and some minor inconveniences. The stunning architecture and spacious rooms were impressive, but the location on a hillside made getting around a bit tricky. Service was efficient, though not particularly warm, and some facilities could use better maintenance.

Rooms
8.0
I booked a prestige deluxe room, which was spacious and had a nice modern touch with a hint of classic Chinese decor. Unfortunately, the lighting in the bathroom was not ideal for makeup, casting distracting shadows.
Service
7.0
The service was generally good, with most staff speaking some English. However, I found the hospitality a bit lacking in warmth and friendliness compared to other hotels I've stayed at.
Location
6.0
While the hotel is located in a central area of Taipei, being on a hill made public transport access somewhat inconvenient, necessitating taxis or shuttle services. The shuttle service could definitely use more frequent runs.
Dining
7.0
I enjoyed breakfast, which was a pleasant surprise since I wasn't expecting it. However, room service and dining options could be more accessible during peak hours.
Facilities
7.0
The Olympic-sized swimming pool and gym facilities were excellent, but I felt some areas showed signs of age. The lack of chairs on the balcony was also a missed opportunity for enjoying the views.

5.4/10

My stay at The Grand Hotel was undeniably grand, with beautiful views and spacious rooms, but the check-in process was a hassle that dampened my experience. The location is stunning on top of a hill, surrounded by nature, yet getting to the city center took longer than expected. While the facilities were impressive, including a great pool, the dining options left something to be desired.

Rooms

I loved the spacious Horizon Room with its large balcony overlooking Taipei. It felt luxurious and clean.
Service
6.0
The service overall was friendly, but the check-in process really needs improvement. It took far too long and there seemed to be too many staff standing idle.
Location
7.0
The hotel is on a hill with beautiful woodland surroundings, but it felt isolated from the main attractions in Taipei. It took a while to get into the city.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast spread was quite average, with lukewarm items and poor-quality coffee, which was disappointing given the grand setting. I dined at the Golden Dragon, and the dim sum was really good though.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel has fantastic facilities, including a lovely swimming pool and well-maintained grounds, making it a pleasant place to relax.

My stay at The Grand Hotel was truly nice! The grandeur of the lobby and the comfortable, spacious room made me feel like royalty. However, I did find the location a bit isolated, which required some planning to get into the heart of Taipei. Overall, it was a relaxing experience, but the transportation to central areas could be easier. 🌟

Rooms

I stayed in a luxurious room with a spacious layout, including a large balcony that offered stunning views of the city. The room was well-stocked with nice touches like complimentary water.
Service
9.0
The hospitality was impressive, with friendly staff always willing to help. Despite the bustling lobby being a tourist attraction, the service remained attentive.
Location
7.0
Situated on a hillside, the hotel offers beautiful views, but it is somewhat removed from central Taipei, making transportation a bit challenging. A taxi ride from the nearest MRT station was around 100 TWD, though there’s also a free shuttle service available.
Dining
8.0
The breakfast spread was good, with a good variety of options to choose from. However, I found it disappointing that I couldn't secure a dining reservation at the Cantonese restaurant during my stay.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel has solid fitness facilities located a short walk away, plus a beautiful swimming pool. It also offers various services such as room service and laundry, which adds to the convenience.

7.0/10

The Grand Hotel in Taipei offers a stunning visual experience with its Classical Chinese architecture and beautiful surroundings. although I found myself disappointed with the room size and some services. The location on a hillside provides great views, albeit it makes accessing the city a bit tricky without a personal vehicle. Despite some shortcomings in dining and service, my overall experience was nice due to the hotel’s unique charm.

Rooms
7.0
I stayed in a Deluxe Twin Room with high ceilings and ample space, which was a plus. However, the room felt somewhat cramped in terms of decor and comfort. not quite what I expected from a five-star hotel.
Service
6.0
The service was prompt in instances, but it felt impersonal in such a busy lobby area. There was a friendly bellboy who stood out with his enthusiastic demeanor, which was refreshing amidst the chaos.
Location
6.0
While the picturesque location atop a hill provided lovely views, it was inconvenient for accessing public transport. The shuttle service to the nearest MRT station was helpful but came with long wait times, which was frustrating.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast options included both eastern and western dishes, but the quality fell short. with lukewarm food and underwhelming coffee. Dining options within the hotel were decent, though service could use improvement.
Facilities
7.0
The pool and gym were excellent, offering great amenities and views for relaxation. However, some areas, like the change rooms by the pool, were in need of renovation, which detracted from the overall experience.

My stay at The Grand Hotel was an interesting mix of experiences. The hotel itself is stunning, with a grand lobby that truly feels like a palace. However, I did encounter some drawbacks, like the location being a bit inconvenient and some areas feeling aged. Overall, it's a unique place worth visiting for its history and grandeur.

Rooms
8.0
I stayed in a spacious prestige deluxe room that had a classy Chinese touch. The bathroom was quite large but did have a mild smell, and the lighting wasn’t ideal for makeup. Unfortunately, there were no chairs on the balcony to relax and enjoy the view.
Service
7.0
The hotel staff was generally helpful and kind. However, I found that communication could be tricky at times since most of them didn’t speak fluent English.
Location
6.0
The hotel is perched on a hill, giving it a lovely view, but getting around was more challenging. The complimentary shuttles were helpful, but they took a while, and taxis were often needed to access the city center.
Dining
5.0
I was not impressed with the dining options. The buffet quality had notably dropped, and many items were far from tasty, especially in comparison to other hotels. However, there were a few good restaurants on-site.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel has a fantastic gym, although it’s a little far from the main building. Other facilities like the Olympic standard pool are great, but the lobby can feel quite crowded at times due to tours and events.
